I can't figure this one. Feaster on the weekend was saying Kipper could be in the line-up for Wednesday's game. Why make this move now? Will he even make it to Calgary for tonights game? This smells fishy, there has to be another move.

yeah who knows.....I was actually a little worried Kipper may be out for longer than expected, but I don't think that's the case. In reality, Irving is officially done IMO. Will Joey Mac get here in time for tonight? If Irving is done, give Taylor the reigns tonight.

Honestly I think MacDonald. Is better than Irving. When Kipper is healthy we will probaboly have a kipper macdonald tandem.

Colin, you missed an option for the poll. There should be we have no freaking clue why the move was done.

Kippers injury happened right in Detroit. All he had to do is walk down the hallway and tell Holland, I'll give you a Chicago 7th rouder for Joey & we could have saved the wasted contract to Taylor.

This stinks of panick. They obviously didnt feel Irv could win us enough games to make the playoffs & really made a huge mistake signing Taylor if they werent prepared to put the kid in & see how he does. Hartley & Feaster probably fed King & Murray the Kool-aid of how we are a playoff team with this group & Harts will get the max out of these guys. Even if Kipper plays Weds, he could retweek the knee,at best maybe only play every other game. That spells disaster in this shortened season. Therefore I smell panick. I think we should have gone with Irv & Taylor & see what we have. They either come out successful & we finally answer years of no Kipper backup or we become a seller in mid March. This is what happens when you overpay your older stars who cant compete against the other teams franchise players & you have a cap maxed non playoff team. You have jack for depth. At some point Flames Management need to embrace the horror that the core has to get younger. The one more kick at it has come and gone for the existing core & now we have to do this the painful hard way. The impact of this move is minimal on our cap & whatever, what i find frustrating is the mindset of management logic on this move is very disturbing.

So why did we sign Taylor to an NHL contract if we're not even going to try him for a game? Him and Brust have both been exceptional down in Abby. Why wouldn't we give the kid a shot?

After thinking about the trade I imagine the Flames were high on Joey Mac and were surprised to see him on waivers. They signed Taylor because they had to, but if Kipper were never hurt I think they would have grabbed Joey to replace Irving anyway.

I'd rather keep the draft pick and get MacDonald for free.

I'm going to the game tonight, and I’ll be disappointed if Taylor isn't in net. They can't expect Irving to play well after publicly humiliating him like this.

I sure hope Harvey the Hound isn't the highlight of tonight’s game.

Considering they just put Cammalleri on IR retroactively to Feb. 5, something must be going on.

I think this saying Kipper is more injured than they are saying. If Kipper is coming back Wednesday, this move is not necessary.

Feaster's claim of Meritocricy is BS, you have the 2 best goalies in the AHL and neither gets a start.

I might be reading too much into this but I'm high on coffee.

Kiprusoff was "injured". This gave the Flames a couple of games to evaluate what the team would look like without him. Then they pick up a player off waivers that could further bolster the position just when he appears to be nearing the end of his recovery time. The Flames have some obvious needs and maybe Detroit offers Calgary an option. They pull him from the game to prevent an actual injury with the understanding that the Wings will be putting MacDonald on waivers. MacDonald comes back from injury and is waived to allow "playing time in the AHL" and Calgary one of the lowest ranking teams (first dibs on waiver wire) picks him up. Kiprusoff gets traded to Detroit, Irving steps up, MacDonald is the backup.

Centre problem solved?
